Life without insurance.

One of the biggest myths created by the US government and representatives of the health care system is that it is impossible to live without health insurance in the United States.  In recent years, this myth has been popularized in every way by the democratic party and the Obama administration, who are trying to impose expensive and ineffective insurance plans in the framework of medical reform (in common people – Obamaker).

Liberals are doing everything possible to put the middle class in their heads (the poor get insurance for free, and the rich are able to buy it) a frightening thought: without inspiration, your life will turn into a nightmare and most likely you will die prematurely if you catch a deadly disease. Many readers will disagree with me, but personally I am 99.9% sure that it is difficult but not real to survive without health insurance in the United States.  Moreover, every year tens of thousands of uninsured people who received high-quality and, as it turned out, inexpensive treatment, ask: “Why was it even necessary to pay for insurance, if there are lots of ways to improve your health almost for free?”  So, first things first.

The first and most important advice that should be given to uninsured people: stop panicking about the lack of insure.

American history knows many examples when people perceived the loss of insurance as the greatest grief, fell into depression, began to suffer from mental illness, ruined their health by self-suggestion, and even committed suicide.  Today, 45 million uninsured people live in the States. About 20 million more people have such primitive insures that even for the initial visits to not the best doctors they have to pay extra. In short, every fifth resident cannot claim expensive treatment in case of an emergency. It is a fact.

Tip number two: never, under any circumstances, do not believe in the doom of uninsured people.

One of the main principles of American public health, written in many official documents, is: “No matter who you are, where you live, and whether you have health insurance, you will not be rejected by the national health care system if you ask for help.” If this principle did not work, then human rights organizations would constantly “bombed” the media and social networks with heartbreaking stories about people who died a painful death from dangerous diseases and no one helped them.  It is worth noting here that even the scandalous documentary director Michael Moore, who smashed the Bush health care system in the film Sicko (2007), could not find the truly shocking facts. He showed that American medicine is a cynical business, but did not prove that lack of insurance increases suffering and accelerates death.

Tip number three: act and think like insured people.

It is very beneficial for the state that residents without insurance immediately put an end to visits to doctors (emergency call) and solve all health problems with the purchase of Advil and Tylenol tablets in Groseri.  Such “medical propaganda slaves” often do not think about their health, but about four-digit treatment bills, who are angry at the lack of insurance for doctors and nurses, immigration problems (many illegal immigrants believe that staying in a hospital without insurance may turn into deportation), etc.  In reality, over the past year, the government spent over $ 50 billion on the treatment of uninsured Americans (US Department of Health & Human Services statistics). This astronomical sum indicates that medical care is provided to all without exception.  The main thing is to show perseverance and not to classify oneself as “second class” people, as the intimidated uninsured usually do.

Tip number four: cash is the best insurance plan.

Since the majority of the uninsured are representatives of the middle class, it is not at all superfluous to demand from them certain cash savings.  Remember that with Obamaker’s adoption, the medical rules changed. If you buy insurance, then most of your money is spent on treating other people (in particular, Medicaid holders).  If you deposit cash on a savings account or, figuratively speaking, hide under a pillow, then 100% of the savings belong to you. Money does not disappear anywhere, and their amount is constantly increasing.   It is possible that Obamaker’s supporters will criticize me for such a comparison, believing that money savings will be useless if their owner gets cancer or needs complicated heart surgery.  “It’s impossible to save up hundreds of thousands of dollars for an ordinary worker on such procedures, but they are able to pay for good insurance,” they will say.  People who argue in this way should be reminded that life is unpredictable and constantly thinking about imminent death from a dangerous disease just as stupid as death from a lightning strike or from a traffic accident.   Today, many medical institutions offer substantial discounts to patients who pay for treatment in cash rather than insurance.  For example, the Los Angeles Times recently described a real case in which a CT scan of the abdomen at an insurance hospital cost $ 2,400 and in cash $ 250 (discount 89%).  A similar situation is observed with a blood test in California: under insurance – $ 415, in cash – $ 95 (discount – 77%). With the total introduction of compulsory insurance, this difference will only be more tangible, although now it is more profitable to pay in cash than to buy Obamaker.

Tip number five: visit the clinic more often.

These medical institutions work without an appointment and charge $ 110 per person per visit (on average, in the country). Here you can get quick and quality assistance. Clinics do not take money for a second visit within 24 – 36 hours.  Such institutions are much better than emergency rooms, where the average waiting time is about 8 hours.  You can find a clinic near your home using the Google search engine. Today, there are more than 9,000 such institutions in the United States.

Tip number six: Hospital social worker – the main source of information.

Hospital Social Worker is a person who knows about all charity and government programs for uninsured people. He has exceptional information, so do not waste your time in negotiations with other employees (especially with telephone secretaries, whose task is to deny all people without insurers).  So, most recently, the famous New York Hospital launched a short-term program for the free removal of appendicitis to people without insurers. One of the patients, who turned out to be an illegal immigrant, saved $ 38,000 under this program.  Today, almost every American hospital has a certain budget for the treatment of uninsured patients. The sum of this budget, of course, is kept secret, but annually is spent on 100%. Tip number seven: health fairs are free prevention.  Health Fairs are very popular events in the United States, during which hospitals and insurance companies advertise their services. People are lured to health fairs through various free procedures – eye tests, blood tests, pressure measurements, mammography, etc.  Often, a visit to a health fair can save you a few hundred dollars, so do not ignore these events in any way.

Tip number eight: A doctor named Mexico.

The southern neighbor of the United States has a rather developed health care system, in which special attention is paid to people with cash.  Most procedures and surgeries in Mexico are 80% cheaper than in America. And with the introduction of Obamaker this gap widens.  As a result, tens of thousands of southerners go to Mexico to be treated by car, and the northerners get to the hospitals by plane. Ultimately, the cost of the flight fully pays for the course of treatment.  “For a thousand dollars in Mexico, you can do a complete examination of the body, which in the States will cost at least $ 10,000,” said 43-year-old Texan Roy Schenkley. “We are also struck by the attitude towards clients. We are treated with increased care and respect. Local doctors have no right to be mistaken.” Shankly tells an amazing story.  In November 2014, he tried to buy insurance covering the dentist’s services on the Obamaker Exchange. It turned out that a really good plan would cost him $ 2,900 a month, that is, $ 34,800 annually (about a third of the Texan’s salary). He could not draw such a sum and decided to explore the Mexican dental industry.  As a result, in December 2014, Shankly went to Tijuana, where in 9 days he solved numerous problems with his teeth. The Hollywood Smile cost Roy $ 3,300. Similar work in America would cost at least $ 50 thousand.  “I agree with the statement that medicine in the United States is the best in the world, but I will never pay such exorbitant amounts to local doctors and buy predatory insurance,” says Shankly. – In Mexico, there are a huge number of talented doctors who are eager to demonstrate their professionalism to the Americans. I advise all sensible people to be treated in this wonderful country. ” Today, Americans are actively being treated not only in Mexico, but also in Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, Belize and even Belarus. In the latter country, for example, laser vision correction (lasik) costs around $ 600 – almost 10 times less than in the USA. The result of the patients are satisfied.

Tip number nine: Alternative medicine is also a way out.

One of my New York acquaintances for more than 20 years, goes to the Chinese naturopath, who is also a specialist in herbs and a massage therapist. This Chinese man treats him for a variety of diseases – from back pain to infectious diseases. Naturally, no pills or surgeries are applied.  Also, my friend regularly flies to the Czech Karlovy Vary and the German Bad Tolz, where there are wonderful resorts. Balneology he puts above all. “When I feel that I need American doctors, I will buy medical insurance, but so far everything suits me,” says a friend.   It is worth noting here that the American health care system strongly suppresses alternative medicine and balneology. This is understandable: these methods of treatment are effective and therefore deprive the pharmaceutical industry of billions of dollars in profits.

Tip number ten: take on any financial obligations.

Any uninsured person in need of expensive treatment sooner or later finds himself in the following financial situation: the hospital offers him treatment in installments and requires him to sign a stack of various papers. In such cases, the final amount for the treatment is usually exorbitant. For example, $ 200 thousand for not the most difficult surgery.  The most important thing at this stage is to remember that health is priceless. Let the hospital workers add a few more zeros to this amount. The main thing – that they quickly cured a sick person. Unfortunately, for many Americans, the idea of financial debt is much worse than the idea of undermined health. Often they begin to bargain with medical institutions, get nervous, become depressed, delay time and thereby significantly worsen the situation. So, 62-year-old Hugh D. from Wisconsin urgently needed a complicated operation on the liver, but he did not want to pay the debt in the amount of $ 400 thousand and demanded a 15 percent discount. The disputes dragged on and Hugh, who overestimated his strength, died. His death has resulted in an exceptionally ruthless healthcare system.  So why should uninsured Americans not be interested in the amount of treatment to be paid for many years? The answer to this question is an interesting statistical fact: the overwhelming majority of recovered middle-class representatives either do not pay the bills at all, or pay less than 20% of the medical debt. However, they do not violate any laws.
